In some states, employees only have 180 days from the date the harassment took place to file a sexual harassment claim with the EEOC. However, if there is a "work-sharing agreement" between the EEOC and a state's EEOC counterpart, the deadline might be 300 days. Regardless, waiting until the last minute is rarely wise when you are seeking to protect your legal rights. You should contact an employment law attorney as early as possible if you believe you might have a sexual harassment claim.
