What parts of my pension plan does ERISA cover?

ERISA regulates:

(1) participation

(2) benefit accrual, vesting and breaks-in-service

(3) funding

(4) administration of funds

(5) reporting and disclosure

(6) joint and survivor provisions

(7) plan termination

ERISA sets minimal standards that pension plans must meet to qualify. An employer can set more liberal or generous standards if it chooses.
