What circumstances will disqualify me from receiving unemployment insurance?
Again, these circumstances vary from state to state. However, as a general rule, if you voluntarily quit your job without "good cause", or if you were fired for "misconduct", you will not be eligible for Unemployment Insurance.
Note that "good cause" also varies from state to state. In some states "good cause" can include following a spouse who finds a job in another state, or caring for a sick relative. Other states only consider the actions of the employer.
