My employer requires me to work more than forty hours per week, but says that I am a salaried employee and not entitled to overtime. Is the boss right?
Both Pennsylvania and Federal law require employers to pay most employees at a rate 1½ times their regular rate of pay for work in excess of forty hours per week. The laws provide exemptions for categories of employees such as executives and certain other highly paid employees. Should your employer violate these provisions, you would be entitled to monetary damages and attorney fees.
