Can I get paid for the extra time after the end of my shift to close the store, do the accounting, and deposit the receipts in the ATM?
Absolutely. Any before-and-after work activities must be paid for when they're part of your job duties (and take more than just a couple of minutes). Also, if you worked more than 8 hours in a day, you are eligible for overtime. You can file a claim or complaint with your state Labor Commissioner or call the federal Department of Labor. Both are located in the telephone directory. The department will examine your complaint and take action if necessary.
